function & beauty

Being an interior designer is the best job I could ever imagine.  I am given the ability to do what I love, while being a mom to three little girls at the same time.  I love working with people to create a space that is functional, affordable, and visually pleasing.  It is my joy and pleasure to listen to a client describe their visions or hopes for a room and help them make it a reality. By talking about their daily routines, hobbies, and interests, a design will begin to unfold, that creates a useful and beautiful space.

design style

As a designer, I love to layer pattern and use pops of bold colors on top of neutral bases.  I find lots of inspiration in Asian accents and Chinoiserie.  From blue and white ginger jars and Blue Willow china, to touches of nature in bamboo, to the patterns found in pagodas, I love them all.  I cannot resist wallpaper for bold punches of pattern to create visual interest, and I find great sentiment in incorporating family heirlooms or antiques into my designs and mixing them with modern pieces of furniture and finishes. I am a believer in purchasing American-made furniture with great bones that will last for years. Finally, I melt for all things vintage.  A mid-century modern light fixture or a fabric with 1950's flair make me so happy.  Using items in design that have meaning to me is very important.
